Brent Durand is a digital marketer with background in content strategy, creative development, media publishing, advertising and sales.
Brent has been diving since 1997 and working full time in the dive and underwater imaging industries since early 2013. His client list includes tourism boards, dive resorts, camera equipment manufacturers, dive equipment manufacturers, publishers, and media companies. He works full time as Brand Evangelist at SCUBAPRO, writes monthly for Scuba Diving Magazine and contributes to other scuba publications as time permits.
Brent has presented to dive clubs and organizations up and down the U.S. west coast. He has produced and directed content shoots globally, applying his marketing background to maximize investment in strategy, execution, and content distribution.
Brent has led underwater photo workshops in the Bahamas, California, Indonesia, Mexico, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka, helping hundreds of guests take their photography to the next level. His online photo instruction includes hours of video tutorials available at Brent Durand Underwater, plus downloadable photo courses, gear guides and more.
“My goal is to inspire as many people as possible to live healthy lives connected to the natural world. Nature isn’t a place you go; nature is everything every moment. As humans we protect what’s important to us, and I want my work to continue inspiring future scientists, contest-winning photographers, and motivating outdoor weekend warriors to make positive changes. There’s a lot of echo within small circles of outdoor communities and we need to shatter that echo chamber to create a real societal shift in mindset towards conservation and sustainability.”
Brent’s passion is creating unique images that convey raw ocean wilderness, most often while diving the rugged Northern California coast. When not working or diving, you’ll find Brent shooting photo and video, mountain biking, surfing, or relaxing with the family.

Behind the Scenes
I was selected as the diver featured in SCUBAPRO’s Seawing Supernova launch campaign. This project was a blast – from scripting the video to producing the photo/video shoot to being in front of the camera.
I’ve always been a strong believer in diving local and supporting our local dive communities.
